Cape Greco Environmental Center
The eco-friendly building incorporates a welcome centre, souvenir shop, exhibition rooms (with visual and audio guides explaining the different ecosystems of the coastal area and the sea), three aquariums (where visitors can view the marine ecosystems up close), and a café.
The architectural design has been awarded the first prize in the Architecture Competition. The guests enter the Environmental Center by an appropriately arranged hallway. Moreover, in the lobby there is a store, which offer souvenirs from the area of the National Park of Cape Greco. Passing the lobby, the visitor enters the area of informative lectures and exhibition. At that point the visitor can be informed about the terrestrial, marine and underwater wealth of the region. In the media area there is an educational area. In addition, experienced staff deliver courses to school students, about Cape Greco (Cavo Greco), Cyprus and the natural environment in general.
The Environmental Center provide free maps of the area showing where all the caves were and places where you can park and swim. This made it much easier to see the area later. It is a great experience to get out of the heat for a while and relax. You can find out all about the local environment, plants and animals in a short interesting film which you can see in the language of your choice. There is a small aquarium section showing local fish and displays about other animals that do live or have lived on Cyprus.
